William A. Duncan
William A. Duncan, 63, husband of Jo-Ann (MacMonagle) Duncan, due to his
heart condition, passed away suddenly in his Ipswich home on Friday May
Born in Newport, NH on April 11, 1958 he was the son of the late Richard
C. and Theofilia (Wiltowski) Duncan. Bill graduated from Newport High
School, Class of 1976 going on to attend and graduate from the University
of Rochester in NY with a degree in Economics and Psychology.
In 1988, Bill married Jo-Ann MacMonagle, and together they raised their
son, Riley in Beverly and for the past twenty-one years in Ipswich.
His profession was in the field of IT, employed at Epicor Software Inc,
from which he retired.
Bill was an active man, who enjoyed skiing, white water kayaking,
bicycling and hiking. After college, he and his brother, Tom,
bicycled cross country from Oregon to Virginia. In retirement he enjoyed
traveling with his family, which included several extended trips to Spain.
He enjoyed music and was an accomplished guitarist. Bill was a longtime
member of the Penguins Ski Club of Bartlett, NH.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son,
Riley B. Duncan of Ipswich; a twin brother, Thomas J. Duncan of Warner,
NH; two sisters, Janis D. Taylor and her husband Edmund of Hilton Head,
SC, Barbara D. Salmon and her husband Sam of Olivia, Spain and several
nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Charles B.
formerly of Claremont, NH.
A celebration of Billís life will take place at the convenience of the
family at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
