Wendy Virginia Hopkins

Wendy Virginia Hopkins, 67, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018, under
the care of the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Everett February 19, 1951, the eldest daughter of Wendell R.
Hopkins and the late Elsie-Eloise Hyde, she grew up as a very special
person, with the love of her mother, father, sister and three brothers
filling her life with joy and comfort. Living in Andover in her early
years, she moved to Rowley, where she lived much of her life in peace and
surrounded with nature. She enjoyed being in the yard, picking flowers,
and playing with her birds, her dog Sam and cat Felix. She loved music and
dancing and her special idol Elvis Presley.
For many years she worked at the Opportunity Works workshops in
Newburyport and Haverhill, where she met and kept many friends. Most
recently she has resided on Jewett Street in Georgetown, in the loving
care and dedicated company of the "angels" who tended to her with love and
devotion for the last ten years. Their patience and commitment to her
comfort and care among the many blessings in her life.
Fortunate in this life to be part of a loving family, in addition to her
father she is survived by her sister Elaine, and brothers Kenneth, Brian
and Walter. She is also survived by four nieces and two nephews who were a
constant joy to her. A loving aunt, Wendy was truly overjoyed each time
she saw them, making her feel young again and keeping her in touch with
her childhood. She lived her life with courage and kindness, and her happy
spirit and ever present sense of humor will always be remembered. Her goal
in life has been to enrich the lives of those who knew her by teaching
love and compassion for those with special needs.
Family and friends are cordially welcomed to a celebration of Wendy's life
that will be held 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Brown
Memorial Chapel at the
Oak
Hill Cemetery,
4 Brow Street,
Newburyport.
