Virginia (Martin) McMullen

Virginia “Ginny” McMullen,  formerly of Ipswich, and most recently of Leominster,  died peacefully at her home on December 5, 2011 at the age of ninety-eight. She was born April 19, 1913 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin  the daughter of the late Nicolas Theodore and Florence Adalene (Parkinson) Martin.

While working at a library on a naval base she met Kenneth Barry McMullen, married him on July 27, 1946 and then made their home for many years on lower Argilla Road in Ipswich.

Virginia was an avid reader and loved spending time on Crane Beach, tending to her rose garden, cooking gourmet meals for her friends and family and watching golf, a sport that she learned and played with her father.

She is survived my many loving family members, Theodore Cole of Franklin, NY, Terrence Cole of Sidney NY, Constance Cole-Peck of Leominster, Kristen (Cole) Morrison of Sunrise, FL, Judson “Casey” Cole of Phoenix AZ, Joshua Peck of Sudbury,  Travis Peck of Annapolis, MD, Matthew Peck of Osterville, Sarah (Wisler) Donnenwirth of Mission Viejo, CA, Martha “Marty” (Wisler) Ward or Brookline, Nick Ward of Beijing, China, Olivia Ward of Newark, DE, John Ward of Brookline, Edwin R. McMullen Jr of Chatham, Susie (McMullen) Beck of Williamsburg, VA and  Helen (Osborne) McMullen of Kennebunk, ME.

In addition to her  husband of fifty-two years she was predeceased by  her two sisters, Marjorie Helen Wisler of Sturgis, MI and Ruth Frances “Marty” Cole of Sidney, NY, a brother-in-law, Edwin R McMullen of Chatham and a niece, Elizabeth McMullen Richardson.

A memorial service will be scheduled and announced in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral home of Ipswich.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to  Health Alliance Hospital Hospice, 25 Tucker Drive, Leominster, MA 01453.
