Victoria K. (Terentowicz) Scibisz

Victoria K. (Terentowicz) Scibisz, 86, longtime resident of 3 Second Street, Ipswich, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at Sea View Retreat in Rowley, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Scibisz.

Born in Ipswich on September 28, 1924 daughter of the late John and Antonia (Frydrych) Terentowicz she was raised in Ipswich, and  graduated from Ipswich High School in 1943. During WWII she was an Inspector for the Navy at the local Hygrade Sylvania plant, inspecting the assembly of the then top secret proximity fuse. Married in 1945 at the former Sacred Heart Church the Scibisz's made their home on Second Street, where they raised their children. In addition to raising her own four children, Vickie extended an open heart, and open arms nurturing many others in need of loving guidance. She will be remembered always for her pride in her chosen role in life as a wife, homemaker and mother. 

Mrs. Scibisz was a lifelong communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church and was a lifetime member of the P.L.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Marcia C. Pike and her husband Sidney of Acton, ME; three sons, Martin J. Scibisz of Ipswich, Daniel W. Scibisz and his wife Cheryl of Ipswich, Jack Scibisz and his wife Meredith of Hampton, NH; seven grandchildren, Robert D. Vigneaux, III of Boxford, David Vigneaux of Amesbury, Lysa Burns of Plaistow, NH, Adam and Ashley Scibisz both of Ipswich, Allison and Krista Scibisz both of Hampton, NH; six great grandchildren; a sister, Sophie Terentowicz of Ipswich and many nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Walter and Stephen Terentowicz both formerly of Ipswich and the late Gertrude H. Konieczny formerly of Salem,MA.

Visiting hours for family and friends will be held Thursday September 8 from4 to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Activities Fund, Sea View Retreat, 50 Mansion Dr., Rowley, MA 01969.
