Theresa A. (Surpitski)
Wile, 89, wife of the late Richard A. Wile formerly of Brownville
Avenue, Ipswich, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in her home at Avita
of Newburyport.
Born in Cambridge,
daughter of the late Charles and Victoria (Skalny) Surpitski, she
was raised on the Surpitski Family Farm on Linebrook Road, Ipswich.
She was a 1946 graduate of Ipswich High School and continued her
education with two years of business college. Married in 1948 in
Sacred Heart Church in Ipswich, the Wiles made their home and raised
their family on Brownville Avenue. As a young woman she was employed
at Sylvania in Ipswich,and returned to work when her family was
grown. While raising her family she was employed at the
former Hill’s Family Store, GTE, and with Breaktime of Ipswich.
Theresa loved the
time she spent with family and friends. She was a longtime
communicant of Sacred Heart Parish where she was a member of the
Holy Rosary Society and a hard worker and organizer of the annual
Polish Picnic. She loved ethnic cooking, baking and home
gardening.
She is survived by
three sons, Gary B. Wile of Newburyport, Steven C. Wile of NC, and
Peter M. Wile of Ipswich; five grandchildren, Alexis Wile of Exeter,
NH, Joshua Wile of Newburyport, Meghan Brennan of Ipswich, Callie
Wile of NYC and Seth Wile of CA; five great grandchildren, Taylor
and Riley Brennan, and Kaya, Holden and Henley Cargill; a sister,
Gertrude Mackey of Salem, and many nephews and nieces. She was the
mother of the late R. Craig Wile formerly of Ipswich and sister of
the late Alexander, George, John, Charles, Joseph and Edward
Surpitski, Mary Duda and Alice Sherys.
Her funeral will be
held 9 am Friday from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
Street, Ipswich followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp
Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
Visiting hours will be Thursday 4 to 7 pm. Interment will be in the
Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich.
