Sylvia C. (Babcock) Lawler

Sylvia C. (Babcock) Lawler, 82, wife of George R. Lawler of Larch Lane, Wenham, died Sunday September 2, 2018 in the Beverly Hospital following her extended illness.

Born in Ipswich March 21, 1936, the daughter of the late Herbert P. and Martha E. (Comer) Babcock, she was raised in Ipswich and was a 1954 graduate of Ipswich High School. Married in 1959, the Lawlers made their home and raised their family in Salem, and over the years, several locations in Beverly. In addition to raising her family she had been employed for fifteen of these years at Blueberry Hill Healthcare Center and the former Ames Department store both in Beverly.

She enjoyed her many hours playing bingo, and along with her husband, many nationwide travels visiting family and friends.

In addition to her husband George of fifty-nine years she is survived by two daughters, Joy E. Randall and her husband Donald of TN, and Barbara M. Logan of Beverly, two sons, George R. Lawler,III  and his wife Alison of Las Vegas, and Daniel R. Lawler of Ipswich, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister, Evelyn Wightman of Beverly. She was the sister of the late Robert Babcock formerly of Seabrook, Elizabeth Murphy formerly of Woburn and mother-in-law of the late Richard Logan formerly of Beverly.

Her visiting hours be held from 11 am until her 1 pm funeral service on Friday, September 7 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Interment will follow in the Iron Rail Cemetery, Wenham. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place, St. 200, Landover, MD 20785.
