Susan (Shaw) Mereness, 63, of Lakeforest,
CA, formerly of Howe Street, Ipswich, died Wednesday June 18, 2008
in her home following a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Henry M. Mereness
III who died in 1998.
Born in Los Angeles June 24, 1944, she was the
daughter of Marion S. Shaw of Walpole and the late Earl W. Shaw, Jr.
formerly of Medfield. She spent her early years in Worcester and
Wellesley where she was a 1962 graduate of Wellesley High School.
She went on to attend Green Mountain College in Putney VT,
graduating in 1964. She had a long and successful career in the
retail industry. She served in a number of management positions for
both Jordan Marsh in MA and Robinson May Co. in CA.
In addition to her mother she is survived by a
son Henry M. Mereness IV of Lakeforest, CA; two grandchildren,
Henry M. Mereness V and Hannah Ellen Mereness both of CO; four
sisters, Judith Kaletski of East Greenwich RI, Sandra Hay of
Dorchester, Deborah Correale of Westchester, PA and Penelope
Rutledge of Norfolk, and many nieces and nephews. She was the
mother of the late Debra Lynn Mereness formerly of Ipswich.
A private committal service will be held Friday
June 27th, graveside in the New Highland Cemetery,
Ipswich. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home of Ipswich.
