Susan A.
(Maguire) Fenton, 89, of Bunker Hill Road, Ipswich, died
peacefully Monday, September 21, 2015 in her home, surrounded by
her loving family. She was the wife of the late Paul V. Fenton.
Born and raised
in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Catherine
(Marrs) Maguire. She was a graduate of Salem High School Class
of 1942. For many years she was employed as a switchboard
operator at New England Telephone, Danvers State Hospital and
Salem and Beverly Hospitals.
Sue enjoyed
telling stories of growing up the youngest of thirteen children.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and a kind generous
person with a great sense of humor.
She is survived
by four children, Elizabeth Freitas and her husband Jon of
Ipswich, Paul V. Fenton Jr. and his wife Jodie of Marblehead,
Steven Fenton and his wife Sharon of Beverly, Daniel Valcour and
his wife Monique of Antibes, France; daughter-in-law Laurie
Fenton of Ipswich; ten grandchildren, Sara Freitas Brown of
Ipswich, Patrick Fenton of Framingham, Sean Fenton of
Marblehead, Maryann Taggart and her husband Ian of West Roxbury,
Melissa Fenton and her partner Brian Thompson of Peabody,
Michael, Emily and Juliette Fenton all of Ipswich, Madeleine and
Sophie Valcour both of France and the blessed great
grandchildren Katelyn Brown of Ipswich and William Thompson of
Peabody. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Claire Maguire
of West Peabody, and two dear friends Mary Palen and
Virginia Mulcahy
of Ipswich. She was the mother of the late Thomas N Fenton of
Ipswich and the sister of the late George (Pat) Maguire, Mary
Tuttle, Jane Blye, Ellen Strom, Catherine Carroll, John Maguire,
Phillip Maguire, Richard Maguire, Ruth Pierce, Elizabeth
Pelletier, Agnes Adrien and David Maguire.
Visiting hours
will be held Sunday, September 27 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the
Whittier Porter Funeral Home, Six High Street, Ipswich. A
Celebration of Susan's Life and 90th Birthday will follow in the
Boone Hall at Ascension Memorial Church, 31 County Road,
Ipswich. All are respectfully welcomed. As per Sue's wishes
there will be no funeral. Memorial contributions in her memory
