Sophie H. (Watroba) Krupanski

Sophie H. (Watroba) Krupanski, 93, longtime resident of Topsfield Road, Ipswich, and wife of the late Louis J. Krupanski, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following a brief illness.

Born in Ipswich, the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Staciak) Watroba, Sophie was a lifelong Ipswich resident and a 1943 graduate of Ipswich Public Schools. Married in the former Sacred Heart Church in 1947, the Krupanskis made their home and raised their family at their Topsfield Road home. With a grown family Sophie was employed for over twenty years as a secretary at Ebinger Brothers Leathers in Ipswich.

Sophie enjoyed her time with family, playing cards with friends, cooking and baking, solving her beloved crossword puzzles, and caring for her cats and dogs.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and Our Lady of Hope Parish in Ipswich.

Sophie is survived by four children, Susan Krupanski (Julie White) of Gloucester; James Krupanski (Renay Krupanski) of Newburyport; Patricia Powell (Chris Connolly) of Exeter, NH, and Anne Silva of Ipswich; eight grandchildren Alex, Margaret, and Michael Krupanski; Lindsey Silva; James Silva (Kristina Silva); John Powell, Jr. (Christine Powell), Matthew, and Jayson Powell; four great grandchildren, Holden, Brennan, Indigo and Asher Powell and her grand-dog, Bruschi. She was the sister of the late Edward Watroba, Rose Barbati and Mary Rakoc.

Her funeral Service will be held Monday, July 9 at 2 pm, following an hour of visitation commencing at 1 pm, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
