Shane Y. Gray

Shane Y. Gray, 39, of Grove Street, Essex, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 in the Beverly Hospital following his sudden illness.

Born in Beverly February 26, 1972 son of Alice S. (Hawley) Gray of Essex and the late Shirley K. Gray, he was a lifelong Essex resident. He was an employee of Local #668. Shane was a member of the Neptune Veterans Firemen’s Assoc. of Newburyport and was an avid Boston sports fan.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his fiance’ Amanda Davis of Manchester, NH, a son, Aaron Y. Gray of Essex, a daughter, Caly J. Gray Davis of Manchester, NH, a brother, Stacey R. Hawley of Newburyport, two sisters, Stefany J.E. Gray of Essex and Sara Jane Gray of Gloucester, his fiance’s son, Thomas of Manchester, NH, two nephews, Sean Arnold of Essex and Nicholas Hawley of Newburyport, three nieces, Breanna Arnold of Essex and Shay Hawley and Peyton Hawley both of Newburyport, many aunts and uncles including Ray and Ralph Hawley both of Essex, and his special canine friend Copper.

A private interment service will be held a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02115.
