Rosemary (Vernaci) Fitts
Rosemary (Vernaci) Fitts, 83, formerly of Lufkin
Point Lane, Essex, and loving wife of the late Captain William R. Fitts,
died Monday, July 12, 2021 in the company of her loving family.
Born in Boston on October 3, 1937, she was one of
the four children of the late Emmanuel and Emmanuela (Giammanco) Vernaci.
Rosemary was raised in the North End of Boston and was a graduate of St
Julia Billiart High School Class of 1955. Following graduation she went to
work as a long distance operator for New England Telephone in Bowdoin
Square. In 1959, through perseverance and study she attended and
graduated from American Airlines College. Here she achieved a position as
a flight attendant where she soon met her late husband Captain William R.
Fitts, with whom she shared fifty-two years of marriage.
Rosemary was much loved by her family and friends.
She loved cooking, and her life and love were centered around her family.
She enjoyed traveling, boating, beach, flowers and her beautiful
surroundings. She was a member of the America Airlines Kiwi Club.
As a Jehovah's Witness, Rosemary had a very strong
spiritual faith and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's
Rosemary is survived by a son, Capt. William R.
Fitts and his wife Laurie of Topsfield and Essex, three daughters, Jane E.
Woodman, Sandra Ciolino and Rosemary Burnham and her husband Dennis all of
Essex, eleven grandchildren, Ted, Tressa, Lily and Heidi Fitts-Wenzel, Nicole
Parisi, Justine and Stephanie Boutchie, Cory, Billy and Sarah Burnham and
McKenzie Woodman, and six great grandchildren, Kihanna, Chanelle,
Alessandra, Cameron and William and Violet. In addition to her husband she
was predeceased by a son, Harold P. Fitts formerly of Essex, two
granddaughters, Catherine and Sandra Woodman, two sisters, Antonina Scola
formerly of Medford and Isabel Vitale formerly Milton, and a brother
Serafino Vernaci formerly of Saugus.
An hour of visitation from 10 am Thursday July 15 will precede a funeral
service at 11 am in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street
Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially welcomed. A committal service
will follow at noon in the Spring Street Cemetery, Essex. Memorial
contributions in her name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
