Richard F. Manthorne, 86, of Southern Manor, Ipswich, husband of
Geraldine (Weagle) Manthorne, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the
Parkland Hospital, Derry, NH following his long illness.
Born in Ipswich July 22, 1926 son of the late Fred and Gertrude
(Roberts) Manthorne, he was raised in Ipswich and attended Ipswich
public schools. During World War II he served his nation in the U.S.
As a young man he was employed at Sylvania in Ipswich later going on
to be part owner and operator of the former R&R Autobody in Ipswich.
Most recently he worked with his son at the former Scott’s Autobody
Richard served as a lieutenant with the Ipswich Call Fire
In addition to his wife of sixty-one years he is survived by his son
Scott of Ipswich and a daughter Sandra Nicholson and her husband
Neal of Rowley. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Manthorne,
Barbara Manthorne and Norma Lavoie all formerly of Ipswich.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM Friday,
December 14, 2012, graveside in the Southside Cemetery, Ipswich.
