Richard S. Lynch, 74. of Newmarch Street, Ipswich, died Monday,
December 16, 2013 in the Beverly Hospital following his sudden
illness. He was the husband of the late Jean C. (Andrews) Lynch
who died in August 2012.
Born in Wakefield July 31, 1939, only child of the late Richard
H. and Annie May (Scott) Lynch, he was raised in Wakefield where
he attended public schools. Married in 1959 the Lynchs made
their home and raised their family from his late Ipswich
address. During the early years of the Viet Nam War he served
with the U.S. Army as a field artillery man and signal corpsman.
Following his honorable discharge and return to Ipswich he went
to work as a construction union laborer which he worked until
retirement. He enjoyed clamming, fishing with his family and
time spent in his home garden. He was a communicant of Our Lady
of Hope Church.
He
is survived by a son, Richard Lynch of Ipswich; four daughters,
Elizabeth Mackey and her husband Dennis of Ipswich, Caroline
Lightbody and her husband Louis of FL, Stephanie Lynch and her
companion Hector Rodriguez of Ipswich, Christine Lynch of
Ipswich, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was
the father of the late Rose Marie Lynch and Theresa Lynch
Clements both formerly of Ipswich.
His funeral will be held 9 am Friday, December 20 from the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed
by the celebration of a Funeral Mass 10 am in Our Lady of Hope
Church, Linebrook Rd., Ipswich. Family and friends are
respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Thursday 4 to 8 pm.
Interment with Army Honors will be in the Cowles Memorial
Cemetery, Ipswich.
