Richard J. Cahill

Richard
J. Cahill, 70, husband of Nancy E. (Fougere) Cahill of Newburyport, died
Wednesday November 23, 2016 in the Anna Jaques Hospital following his
extended illness.
Born in
Salem September 7, 1946, he was the son of the late John A. and Marjorie
(Meaney) Cahill. He was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School
and enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving during the Viet Nam War.
Married in 1970, the Cahills moved to Newburyport where they raised
their family. He was most recently employed with the Internal Revenue
Service in Andover, from which he retired in 2009. He enjoyed
cultivating his home vegetable garden, and loved spending time on the
ocean and in the mountains of Maine with his family and friends. He was
a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #909 in Newburyport.
In
addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Tammie S. Perry
and her husband Michael of Haverhill and Tara Cahill of Newburyport, and
his grandson, Joshua M. Perry of Haverhill. He also leaves a brother,
Daniel Cahill of FL and two sisters, Elizabeth Brancaleone of Gloucester
and Rosemary Gryniewicz of Windham. NH. He was the brother of the late
John Cahill, formerly of GA.
Private funeral arrangements
are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
