Rebecca J. (Baker) Simonds-Lawton

Rebecca J. (Baker) Simonds-Lawton, 77, of
Chattanooga Road, died November 5, 2020 at home following a lengthy
illness. She was the loving companion of the late Stephen Buckley, who
passed in August of 2008.
Additionally, she was predeceased by husbands John Simonds and Gary
Lawton.
Born in Ipswich on March 20, 1943, Becky was the
daughter of the late Willard and Cora (Place) Baker. A 1961 graduate of
Ipswich High School, after attending Boston University for a year she
moved to Hyannis and started a family. She continued to raise her family
in Topsfield and ultimately returned to Ipswich 1986. Becky was employed
by the Analogic Corporation in Peabody where she ran the company's
evaluation lab until her retirement in 2010.
Becky was well known for her love of cooking, often
baking something special for the many meetings she attended with her Bill
W family. She had a
contagious laugh and was forever seeking the best in every situation.
She leaves behind her loving children Cora Simonds
of Ipswich and Patrick Small and his wife Theresa of Seabrook, NH, and her
lifelong best friend, Jo Ann Allie.
She was predeceased by her son Matthew Simonds and grandsons
Christopher Small and Jonathan Larson.
She will be remembered fondly by her step children Nancy Benjamin
of NH and Michael Simonds of CA, sister in law Linda Baker of NH, her many
cousins, nieces and nephews as well as the Small and Kelley families of
Cape Cod. She was the sister of the late Willard Baker Jr of Belmont and
Peter Baker of Brookfield, NH.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of
Ipswich. Due to Covid-19 and the
compromised immunity of immediate family, there will be no calling hours.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
