Dr.
Philip M. Hommes, 63, husband of Catherine L. (Simonelli) Hommes, of
Bunkerhill Road, Ipswich, died Sunday January 24, 2010 at the
Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a long
illness.
The son
of the late Omer and Dorcas (Baars) Hommes, Philip was a graduate of
Muskegon High School, the University of Michigan and the Chicago
College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Hommes taught Pediatrics at the
Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, at New England School of
Osteopathic Medicine, and trained pediatric residents from U Mass
Medical School. For many years he cared for patients through his
pediatric practice in Clinton and Lancaster, followed by serving
with the Pediatric Department at Fallon Clinic. He has spent the
past three years working as a hospital chaplain on the North Shore.
He attended the Christ of the Redeemer Episcopal Church in Danvers.
In
addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Christian Hommes and
his finance’ Hilary O’Friel, both of Boston; two daughters, Eden
Hommes of Los Angeles, CA and Ariel Hommes and her fiance’ Justin
Paulissian, both of Chicago; a sister Naomi DeBarr, a nephew,
Gabriel DeBarr, and a niece Danielle Villa, all of of Spring Lake,
MI. His funeral service will held on Saturday,
January 30, at 10
am at Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, 188
Elliott Street, Danvers,
MA, 01923. A reception will follow in the church reception hall.
