Peter M. Kopanon

Peter M. Kopanon, 91, of Essex, passed away unexpectedly in his home on June 1, 2020.  He was the husband of the late Helen L. (Story) Kopanon with whom he shared fifty years of marriage.

A resident of Essex for sixty-five years, Peter took enormous pride in looking after his home. He tended his vegetable gardens and apple trees, and over the years raised sheep, cattle, ponies, chickens, turkeys, geese, and bees.  Until his death, he was known to work on several projects at once and rarely sat idle.  He never failed to put aside whatever he was doing to help his friends, neighbors, and family. Peter was a true gentleman with a love of conversation, inherent curiosity, and boundless generosity.

Peter's greatest joy was his family.  He is survived by his four children, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
