Pauline M. (Lewis) Larson

Pauline M. (Lewis) Larson, 92, of Beach Street, Beverly Farms, died
Thursday, May 26, 2022 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers
following her brief illness. She
was the wife of the late Thomas J. Larson who passed in 1983.
Born in Beverly on June 8, 1929, Pauline was one of the five children of
the late Ralph E. and Pauline M. (Klemm) Lewis. She was raised in Beverly,
a Beverly High School graduate with the Class of 1947, and a graduate of
Westbrook College in Portland, ME. She went on to enjoy a long career
specializing in children’s and women’s clothing.
For years she was employed as a
buyer for the Pattie Anne Shop in Salem, and later owned and operated two
children’s clothing shops, Polly’s in Swampscott and North Shore Kids in
Beverly, and a woman’s shop, The Vogue in Beverly. Most recently she was
employed at Lord & Taylor in Peabody.
“Polly” welcomed all who entered her home with a warm smile and a genuine
interest in their well being. She was known for her eloquence, grace,
dignity and compassion. Polly treasured visits with her family and friends
and would positively glow when in the company of her very large circle of
those she loved. Her wisdom, strength and maternal nature made her
immensely popular over the course of several generations.
She
is survived by a daughter, Paula J. Riley of Beverly Farms, two sons,
Thomas J. Larson, Jr. of Ipswich and Eric L. Larson and his wife Deborah
of Beverly Farms, five grandchildren, Cameron L. Riley of Los Angeles, CA, Molly Larson Diffie and her husband
Douglas of Austin, TX, Taylor L. Larson of Brooklyn, NY, Thomas J. Larson,
III and his wife Chelsea of Middletown, RI, and Dr. Katherine H. Larson of
Portsmouth, NH, and two great
grandchildren, Whitney Diffie and Siobhan Larson. She is also survived by
a sister, Judy Little of Ipswich, a daughter-in-law, Ann Larson of
Amesbury, and many nephews and nieces including Jane O’Leary of Ipswich.
She was the sister of the late Cynthia MarcAurelle formerly of Ipswich,
Ralph E. Lewis, Jr. of Naples, ME
and William P. Lewis of Ipswich.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 4 at 10 am in St. John’s
Episcopal Church, 705 Hale St., Beverly Farms. Family and friends are
cordially welcomed. Interment will
follow in the Beverly Farms Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction
of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
