Pauline E. (Towne)
Allen, 89, of Maple Street, Essex and wife of the late Arthur A.
Allen, died Monday, February 6, 2017 in the Kaplan Family
Hospice House in Danvers following her long illness.
Born in Ipswich
January 24, 1928, daughter of the late Earl and Ruth (Eaton)
Towne, Pauline was a lifelong Essex resident. During the years
of WWII she was employed at Sylvania in Ipswich. With a grown
family she went to work for the Essex School Department,
employed for many years in the cafeteria, retiring as food
service manager.
Pauline enjoyed
playing cards and her hours of knitting for her family and
friends.
She is survived by
twin sons, Robert E. Allen of Rockport and Richard J. Allen of
Essex; a daughter, Cynthia J. Redding and her husband William of
Essex; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a
brother, Kenneth Towne of Maine. She was the sister of the late
Sandra Riddle formerly of Magnolia, Edward Stevens formerly of
Hamilton and Earl Towne formerly of Virginia.
Her funeral
service will be held 1 pm Thursday, February 9, graveside in the
Spring Cemetery, Essex. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. Arrangements are under the direction of
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
