Paul Frederick Richard

Paul Frederick Richard, 80, of Charlotte Road, Ipswich died July 15, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a long illness.

Born August 19, 1935 in Salem, he was the youngest of six children of the late  Edmond J. and Wilhelmina E. (Klink) Richard. He was raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Vocational High School Class of  1955.  Paul served  in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1958 serving onboard the USS Bache. Following his discharge he went on to work as a pipefitter employed in the Pipefitters Union, Local #537  from which he retired  in  1997.

Paul was a hard working man who seemed to have boundless energy and determination which served him well throughout his lifetime.  He could do  anything he set his mind to.  But more than anything else he was a family man and was happiest when his entire family gathered in his Ipswich home.  He especially enjoyed summer cookouts, playing his guitar and singing with his family and friends.

He is survived by three sons, Frederick  of Ipswich, Tim  and his wife Julie of Sanford, ME, Brian and his wife Lori of Ipswich; four daughters, Wendy Brigham and her husband Paul of  Sanford, ME, Amy Keenan and her husband Daniel of Palm Desert, CA, Debra Richard and her wife Elizabeth Bowen of Mount Airy, GA, Donna Pellegrini of Peabody and her companion Bruce Maciariello of Salem, NH; fourteen grandchildren, Stacey, Kristina, Timothy, Monica, Alexis, Madelyn, Mathew, Derek, Amanda, Emma, Samantha,  Michael, Brandon and Brianna; six great-grandchildren: Michael, Jacob, Lorelei, Althaia, Sequoia and Alexah Rose; companion Sylvia Gallezzo of Wakefield; ex-wife Pauline Richard of Englewood, FL  and brother Robert Richard of Beverly.  He was predeceased by his brothers Edmund, Arthur “Pinky” and Philip Richard and his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Byrne.

His funeral service with Military Honors will be held 10 am Tuesday, July 26, 2016,  graveside in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North Street, Salem. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Monday 4 to 7 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
