Patricia J. (Steen) Tougas

Patricia J. (Steen) Tougas, 87, formerly of Oak Hill Apartments, Ipswich, died Monday June 29, 2020 in the Sutton Hill Center in North Andover.

Born in Ipswich on April 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Alma (Manzer) Steen. She was raised in Ipswich by the late Hazel and Eva Manzer and was a 1951 graduate of Ipswich High School. She soon married the love of her life, the late Richard N. Tougas. Several years following the death of her husband, she married the late George Swale.

A talented crafter, Pat loved to sew, knit, crochet, do needle point and embroidery and make dolls and doll houses. She was also an enthusiastic sports fan, always rooting for the Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves, and closely followed both tennis and golf. She was known to occasionally write to sports commentators to dispute a call made on a game when she wasn't in agreement.

Pat was the mother of five daughters, Michele Dorr of Ipswich, Heidi Cassista of Danvers, Georgiana Levesque of Maine, the late Joy E. Tougas, the late Molly Swale; two sons, John Tougas of Tennessee and the late Richard Michael Tougas; grandmother of thirteen and great grandmother of twelve. She was the sister of William Steen, James Steen, Robert Steen, David Steen, Margaret Gauthier, Mary Ring, Linda Savory, Barbara Costa, Janet Theriault, the late Elizabeth Razza, the late Alma Steen and the late Joanne Ischmile.

Her funeral service will be held graveside, with masks and social distancing, in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich on Wednesday July 8 at 11am. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
