Patricia A. Nigro-Beland

Patricia A. Nigro-Beland, 58, of Ipswich, passed away on Friday July 24, 2020 at the Kaplan House following her long battle with cancer.

She leaves behind her husband of nineteen years Leo H. Beland, their daughter Margaret (Maggie), her Mother Phyllis M. Nigro, all of Ipswich. She also leaves behind her brother Paul Nigro and his wife Lori of Easton and James Nigro and his wife Deborah of Saugus as well as many other relatives, in-laws and friends.

Patricia was born in Malden on April 20, 1962 and was raised in Saugus. She graduated from Saugus High School in 1980. She continued her education at Fitchburg State earning her B.S. in Nursing and becoming an RN. She joined the Traveling Nurses and was employed as a Nurse in Hawaii, California, Oregon and Massachusetts. Never one to back down from a challenge, she then went to law school graduating from MA School of Law earning her J.D. degree in 1995. She opened her own law practice in Salem and practiced law until her illness worsened. As much as she enjoyed traveling the world, she was just as content and happy to be home surrounded by her family and friends.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Ipswich. Her vivacious and positive energy will be sorely missed but well remembered.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday July 30 at 11 am in Our Lady of Hope Church, Pineswamp Road, Ipswich, followed by interment in the New Highland Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday 5 to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend all services, wearing masks and respecting social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) P.O.Box 329 Arlington, MA 02476.
