Patricia (Cogswell) Sheppard Lavoie

Patricia (Cogswell) Sheppard Lavoie, 83, wife of the late John Sheppard, Jr. and the late Robert Lavoie, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield.

Born in Ipswich April 26, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Warren and Barbara (Robishaw) of Ipswich. Pat was raised in Ipswich and was a 1953 graduate of Ipswich Public Schools.

Patricia was a longtime wife and mother at home on Island Park Road, Ipswich. She worked many years for the Town of Ipswich, for attorneys Charles Dalton and the now Honorable Judge Allen Swan. Patricia later made her home on Virginia Beach, VA, working at the Virginia Beach Touring Department. She briefly lived in Baltimore, MD before  returning to Ipswich in 1994. Most recently Pat was an employee and member at the Ipswich YMCA, a member of the Newburyport YWCA and the Ipswich Council on Aging. She loved sailing, any and all beaches, swimming, water aerobics and her many trips with the Ipswich COA.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Sheppard of Newbury, Jill Sheppard of Kendall, FL; a son, Alan Sheppard of Ipswich; a grandson, Joshua Pill; a granddaughter, Bailey Sheppard and Robert’s children, Dean, Dane and Ginger. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Cogswell and her sister, Ann Long.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home  of Ipswich.
