Olga (Bokron) Galanis
Olga (Bokron) Galanis, 97, longtime of
Farley Avenue, Ipswich, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 in the Ledgewood
Rehabilitation Center in Beverly. She was the wife of the late Christos
C. Galanis who passed in 1990.
Olga was born in Ipswich February 12,
1920 the daughter of the late Nicholas D. and Helen (Economaki) Bokron.
She was raised in Ipswich and was a graduate of Ipswich Public Schools.
She went to attend Salem State College while working nights at the
former Hayward Hosiery in Ipswich. Married in 1952 the Galanisí soon
made their home and raised their family at her late Farley Avenue
For many years she was employed by Sylvania. She was first employed as a
secretary at Ipswich plant, later going on to work as the executive
secretary for the plant manager at the Exeter NH plant from which she
retired in the mid 1960ís.
For more than fifty of the following years she was a full time counselor
for Vanda Beauty Products.
She was a lifetime member of the
Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Ipswich, where
she was a member of the Alpha Omega Society, was a member of a local
sewing guild, and with her late sister Jane, involved in several
community activities including Ipswich Holiday Happenings and the Memory
Olga is survived by a daughter, Marcia M.
Snyder and her husband Walt of South Gibson, PA; two grandchildren,
Harrison C. Snyder of Ogden, UT and Susan M. Hoffman of Boyertown, PA;
five great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Hercules Bokron of CT, Louis Bokron of Salem, John Bokron of Needham Hts., Peter
Bokron CA, Jane Bokron of Ipswich, Potula Marines of Boston, Katania
Bokron of Boston and Angela Galanis of Ipswich.
Her funeral will be held 9 am Saturday,
November 4 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street,
Ipswich, followed by a funeral service at 10 am in the Greek Orthodox
Church, Lafayette Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully
welcomed. Interment will be in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich.
