Mildred I. (Muise) Bernard

Mildred I. (Muise) Bernard, 98, of Agawam Village, Ipswich,  wife of the late Adelard J. Bernard, died peacefully Thursday, May 7, 2015  in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center, Beverly, with her daughters and son in law by her side.

Born in Salem April 28, 1917, daughter of the late Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Lefavour) Muise, she was raised in Salem and was a graduate of St. James Parochial School, Salem.

Married in 1935 the Bernards soon made a  home and started their family on Vermette Court, Ipswich where she lived for many years. During many of these years she was employed as an assembler at the former Hytron Co. in Newburyport and more recently at Sylvania in Ipswich.

Mrs. Bernard enjoyed hours of knitting and sewing. She was a generous contributor of her crafts to  family, friends and  various church fairs. For many years she offered her wares at the annual Old Ipswich Days on the South Green. 

She was a longtime member of the St. Stanislaus Parish of Ipswich.

She is survived by three daughters,  Elaine R. Michaud and her husband Armand of Ipswich, Valerie A. Robinson and her husband Jack of Ft. Myers, FL, Cynthia M. Dooley of Ipswich; nine grandchildren, Armand Michaud, Jr., of RI, James Michaud of Quincy, Gary Michaud of Ipswich, Christopher Schiessl of CA, Heidi Fogarty of RI, U.S. Navy Capt. Gregory Smith of HI, Todd Smith of Ipswich, Shea Dooley of Ipswich, Evan Dooley of HI; six great grandchildren: two great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Her funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, May 11 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich followed by interment in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. A visitation is offered from 10 am to the time of the service. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
