Maureen Ann
(MacKinnon) Amundsen, 81, of Linebrook Road, passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 following her brief
illness..
Maureen was born
in Woburn on May 16, 1935 daughter of the late Malcolm E. and
Katherine E. (McDonough) MacKinnon. She graduated from St.
Charles High School in Woburn and married her soulmate, the late
Howard “Bud” Amundsen on June 20, 1955.
Maureen’s family
and her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother
was her lifelong vocation. Her family is where she drew her
strength and left her legacy. Being surrounded by her family and
close friends was what Maureen enjoyed most of all. She had a
unique gift for making everyone she came in contact with feel
special. She was selfless, a good listener, a loyal friend and a
wonderful mother.
Maureen is
survived by a daughter, Stephanie Johnson and her husband
Michael of Salisbury; three sons, Paul Amundsen and his wife
Jeanette of Ipswich, Mark Amundsen and his wife Lisa of Eliot,
ME, Erik Amundsen and his wife Cindra of South Hampton, NH;
thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother
Robert MacKinnon of Orangevale, CA;
many nieces; nephews
and dear friends. She will be missed by all those who loved her.
Maureen was the mother to the late Bradley Amundsen formerly of
Ipswich and sister of the late Carol Michaud formerly of Nashua,
NH.
Her funeral will
be held 8 am Saturday, June 25, from the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed the celebration
of a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Our Lady of
Hope Church, Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are
respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Friday 4 to 8 pm. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made
to a charity of one's choice.
