Marjorie C. (Burnham) Rideout, 89, of Caroline Avenue, Ipswich,
formerly longtime of Story Street, Essex, died Tuesday, June 25,
2013 in her home following her sudden illness. She was the wife
of the late David R. Rideout who died in 1997.
Born in Ipswich November 9, 1923 she was the daughter of the
late John L. and Elsie C. Burnham of Essex. Raised in Essex she
was a 1941 graduate of Essex High School continuing her
education at the Salem Commercial School. During the years of
WWII she was employed as a bookkeeper at Sylvania in Ipswich.
Married in 1946 she was a devoted and loving wife and mother.
In addition to her time with family she enjoyed her quiet time
crocheting and reading.
She was a member of the former United Methodist Church in Essex.
She is survived by a son, David R. Rideout of Gambrillis, MD;
three grandchildren, Christine Richardson of MD , Catherine
Andino of MD , Michael Rideout of NY; two great grandchildren;
two sisters, Victoria Allen of Gloucester, Gretta Reed of FL and
many nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband of fifty-one
years she was predeceased by a son, Richard A. Rideout of
Randolph; a sister, Evelyn Stewart of Essex and two brothers,
Russell Burnham of Gloucester and Newell Burnham of Essex.
Her funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday in the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed
by interment in the Spring Street Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Friday 5
to 8 pm.
