Marilyn S. Smith

Marilyn S. Smith, 93, wife of the late Andrew
Smith, formerly of Sharon Road, South Hamilton, died December 25, 2020 at
Landmark at Ocean View Assisted Living in Beverly following her extended
illness.
Born in Glens Falls, NY, January 28, 1927, she
was the only child of the late Albert and Mae (Chamberlain) Stewart. She
was raised in Glens Falls and was a 1945 graduate of Glens Falls High
School. She continued her education at Plattsburgh State Teacher’s
College, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in education. Married in 1950 the
Smiths made their home in and started their family in Schenectady. In 1963
they made their home in Oklahoma for two years before relocating to
Hamilton in 1965, living on Howard Street later to live on Sharon Road.
Marilyn was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church
of Hamilton. She enjoyed hours of walking and reading and kept meticulous
journals. She will be fondly remembered for her many years as a substitute
teacher in the Hamilton elementary school system.
She is survived by her two daughters, Fay
Ciaramitaro and her husband Charlie of South Hamilton and Martha S.
Almeida and her husband Tony of Wilmington, and two grandchildren,
Jennifer Leonardo of Woburn and Michael Leonardo and his wife Rachel of
Dracut.
A private burial service will be held in the Pineview Cemetery, Glens
Falls, NY. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the First
United Methodist Church of Hamilton, 391 Bay Road, S Hamilton, MA 01982,
or to the charity of one’s choice.
