Margaret Louise Gould Temple

Margaret Louise Gould Temple passed quietly at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.  Margaret (Peg) was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on June 16, 1931 to Robert M. Gould and Mildred Wheeler Gould.  Peg grew up on her family farm in Shelburne Center where her family nurtured both a love of nature and a hard work ethic.  After graduating from Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, Peg attended Boston University, graduating with a B. S. in Biology, and went on to have a career in Medical Technology.

Peg shared thirty-seven years of marriage with her late husband, Robert F. Temple.  She is survived by her four daughters, Judith Bettison and her husband Dennis of Santa Fe, TX; Susan Meeks of Burleson, TX; Nancy Bugbee and her husband David of Groton, and Cynthia Magin and her husband Kenneth of Marshfield. In addition, Peg is survived by eight grandchildren: Erin Bettison Rapp, Megan Bettison, Christopher Meeks, Stacy Clark, Madeleine Bugbee, Travis Bugbee, Justin Duff, and Kara Bechtel; and three great grandchildren, Emma, Mason and Graham. She was the sister of the late Doris Hanson, formerly of Bridgewater; Harold Gould, formerly of Amherst; and Lucille Temple, formerly of Florence.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation for the support provided by Care Dimensions during Peg's final week of life.  Peg was able to be home surrounded by her family - watching for her beloved birds; receiving daily reports on how her garden was growing; listening to a Boston Red Sox game, and even getting in a game of cribbage.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Ipswich Elderly, Inc. PO Box 213, Ipswich, MA 01938, benefitting the local Ipswich COA; or Attention: Development, The Trustees, 200 High Street, 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02110, benefitting The Trustees of Reservations of which Peg was a member for many years. For on-line giving and to learn more about The Trustees, go to www.thetrustees.org.   Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
