Lisa Ann Geist
 


Lisa Ann Geist, 60, of Sandy, Utah died Saturday January 19, 2019 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah following a short illness.

Born in Ipswich on August 12, 1958, she was the daughter of Frank W. and the late Rita (Troccoli) Geist, who died earlier his month. 

Lisa was raised in Ipswich and graduated from Ipswich High School, a member of the class of 1976.  She attended the nursing program at North Shore Community College, became an RN, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Massachusetts.  Upon graduation, Lisa worked for Beverly Hospital as a Registered Nurse.  With a passion for skiing Lisa moved to the Salt Lake City area to pursue a career in nursing.  In Utah, Lisa worked as an RN at Alta and Snowbird ski resorts, then as Snowbird Clinic Manager, while working in the emergency department at Cottonwood Hospital then Intermountain Medical Center during summers.  Most recently, Lisa worked at the PACU at Alta View Surgical Center.  Lisa was employed with Intermountain Healthcare for almost thirty years. 

Lisa was an avid downhill skier, cross country skier, and all-around outdoors person.  She loved taking her beloved dog Max for walks among the trails of Round Valley near Park City.  She also enjoyed knitting, and gardening.  Indeed, gardening was Lisa’s summertime passion, having had an amazing green thumb for all manner of fruits and vegetables.  Overall, Lisa loved entertaining her friends throughout the year while often trekking to Massachusetts to visit her beloved parents.

Lisa is survived by her father, Frank W. Geist of Ipswich and her brother, Mark W. Geist and his wife Darla of Santa Barbara, CA.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Thursday, January 31 in Our Lady of Hope Church, I Pineswamp Road, Ipswich followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours will be held 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday January 30 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Flowers are welcomed and or memorial contributions in her name may be made to American Cancer Society, 125 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
