Lee J. Pechilis, 52, of South Main
Street, Ipswich, former husband of Brenda A. (Rioux) Pechilis, died
Monday, November 14, 2011 in his home following his long illness.
Born in Ipswich September 14, 1959,
son of the late John A. and Eva E. (Karmeris) Pechilis, he was
raised in Ipswich, a 1976 graduate of Ipswich High School. As a
young man he was employed at the families' Strand Furniture store in
Ipswich. Following the storeís closure, he and his former wife went
on to own and operate the former Pechilis Family Furniture Store on
Central Street, Ipswich, until itsí closure in 1991.
Lee loved the special time he spent
with his children. An avid drummer and musician, he enjoyed playing
his drums and played with several local bands. He was a lifelong
member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of
In addition to his former wife he
is survived by a son, Christian Joseph Pechilis, U.S. Army Ft.
Jackson, SC; a daughter, Nicole Marie Pechilis of Ipswich; two
brothers, Arthur Pechilis of Seabrook, NH and William Pechilis of
Ipswich; three nephews and two nieces.
His funeral service was held on
Monday morning November 21, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
Street, Ipswich, following an hour of visitation. The Rev John
Govostes of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church
of Ipswich officiated the service with many family members and
friends in attendance. Lee's son Christian read a eulogy. Prayers of
committal were read graveside in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery by Rev
Govostes. Pall bearers included
nephews Tyrus Pechilis of Ipswich, Jason Pechilis of Topsfield, Eric
Pechilis of Ipswich, best friend
Freddy Mozdziez of Ipswich and friend Brian Wade of Ipswich.
