P. Monroe Sr
Kenneth P. Monroe Sr., 77, of Essex, passed away on July 1, 2018, in
Beverly, following his brief illness.
Kenneth was born in 1941 in Worcester, the son of
the late Arthur and Helen (Urquhart) Monroe. He was married to the love of
his life, Sandra, for fifty-six years. A veteran of the United States
Coast Guard, he worked as a draftsman for the EG&G corporation for many
years of his career, creating plans for electronic circuit boards. He
eventually decided to pursue his passion and opened the Americana Gift
Shop, which became Americana Antiques. A staple of downtown Essex, they
helped create the antique community, owning their shop for over forty
Kenneth and Sandra raised their family in the
wonderful community of Essex, and his family wishes to thank the many
friends and people of the town for making their lives together a special
one, and will always be grateful for fond memories of their life there.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three
children, Dawn married to Matthew Thibeault, Ken Jr. married to Ann
Clancy, and Craig married to Debby Couto. He also is survived by two
brothers, David, married to Jan, and Arthur “Archie,” married to Alberta;
and a sister, Caren Errara; his grandchildren, Katelyn with Ryan Welsh,
Steven married to Sabrina, Ashley, Heather engaged to Drew Phillips,
Andrew, Morgan, Connor and Joshua.
His funeral service will be held graveside in the Spring Street Cemetery,
Essex, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5. Arrangements by the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home of Ipswich.
