Joyce A. (Parady) Vickery

Joyce A. (Parady) Vickery, 85 of  Emeritus, Cherry Hill, Danvers, formerly of Beverly and of Ipswich, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 in the her home following a long illness.

She was the wife of the late John E. “Jack” Vickery who died in October of 2012.

Born June 14, 1928 in Gloucester the daughter of the late Alfred  W. and Ardrith M. (Morehouse) Parady, she was  raised and educated in Gloucester, 1946 graduate of Gloucester High School. Following graduation she went to work at Carroll Steele Insurance Co. In 1950 she married her teenage sweetheart and love the love of her life, John E. “Jack” Vickery. They went on to raise their family in Beverly and lived in Ipswich before returning to Beverly. Joyce’s chosen life’s role was the raising and nuturing her extended family. For many years she served as the manager and accountant of the families successful businesses, Willow-Rest Village Market in Gloucester. Her favorite joys were family vacations and Saturday night dancing with “Jack.” She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church.

She is survived by two sons, John P. Vickery and his wife Janet, David M. Vickery and his wife Jennifer, all of Ipswich; a daughter Nancy E. Popick and her husband Patrick of CO;  eight grandchildren, Jennifer Bernard  and her fiancé   Steve Yates of Australia, Amy Bernard of Ipswich, Daniel Vickery of China, Sara Vickery of Somerville, Amanda  Allalunis and her husband George  of NM, Michael Breen of CO, David A. Vickery of Waltham, Kevin T. Vickery of Ipswich; a brother, Gerald Parady and his wife Sophie of Essex; three sisters, Shirley Saulnier of Gloucester, Rose Lane of CA,  Ardrith F. Brophy and her husband Robert of Essex: a  son-in-law Elmer “Buddy” Bernard off Ipswich; three great grandchildren; brother-in-laws,   Walter Vickery of Manchester, Robert Vickery of FL, Joseph Trupiano of Beverly. and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late Linda J. (Vickery) Bernard formerly of Ipswich and sister of the late Alfred Parady, Jr. formerly of Gloucester, Clifton “Kip” Parady formerly of FL, Evelyn Jeannette Harvey of FL and Margaret Bolduc formerly of OH.

Her funeral will be held 9 am Friday, June 13 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Church, Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours will be Thursday 4 to 8 pm. Interment will be in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan Street, Danvers MA 01923.
