John
K. Jodrie, 80, of Main Street, Rowley, died early Tuesday January
24, 2017 in the Den-Mar Health and Rehab in Rockport following his
extended illness. He was the husband of the late Mary D. (Enquist)
Jodrie.
Born
in Peabody July 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary
L. (Rosa) Jodrie and was educated in local public schools. Following
high school he enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in
Europe. Married in 1960 in Peabody, the Jodries lived on Bartholomew
Street for several years before relocating to Topsfield Road in
Ipswich. He later resided in Seabrook before moving to his
daughter’s home in Rowley. A machinist by trade, he was a long time
employee of General Electric in Lynn and Everett, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the AMVETS Post 201 in Ipswich. In addition to
his family and friends he enjoyed spending time fishing and boating
in the local waters.
He is
survived by his son, John Jodrie of Rowley, daughters Deborah
Humphrey and her husband David of Ipswich and Cindy Gavin and her
husband Glenn of Rowley, grandchildren Kelsey and Jake Gavin of
Rowley, his sister, Laraine Ortins of ME, and many nieces and
nephews. He was the brother of the late Richard Jodrie and Walter
Jodrie, both formerly of Salem, Robert Jodrie formerly of PA, and
Connie Mello, formerly of Peabody.
His funeral service will
be held Friday January 27 at 10 am in the Whittier-Porter Funeral
Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, followed by interment with military
honors in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends
are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Thursday 5 to 8 pm.
