John E. Fendrich,
85, of Agawam Village, Ipswich, died Saturday, February 10, 2018 in
the Beverly Hospital.
Born December 24,
1932 in North Bergen NJ, he was one of three children of the late
John W. and Irene (Jennings) Fendrich. A 1950 graduate of Leonia
High School, he went on to attend Fairleigh Dickenson University in
Madison, NJ. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served eight
years in the US Navy and was discharged with five Battle Stars and a
Naval Combat Action Ribbon. For many years he was employed as a
postal clerk in North Bergen, later as a letter carrier in Sparta,
NJ and most recently Ipswich from which he retired in 1995 after
thirty-one years of government service.
He was a longtime
member of Ipswich V.F.W. Post #1093.
John is survived by
two sons, John E. Fendrich, Jr. and his wife Maria of Lincroft, NJ,
Steven J. Fendrich of Weehawken, NJ; two grandchildren, John E.
Fendrich, III and Gianna Fendrich both of Lincroft; two brothers,
Albert Fendrich, George Fendrich and many nephews and nieces.
His funeral service
will be held Tuesday February 13 at noon in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by interment with
Military Honors in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and
friends are cordially welcomed.
