John M. Barowy
John M. Barowy, 63, of Ocean Avenue Gloucester and longtime resident of
Ipswich, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Lahey Medical Center,
Burlington.
Born in Ipswich October 29, 1955, he was the son of
the late John and Lillian (Shirmack) Barowy. John was raised in Ipswich, a
graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School and continued his studies at
Gordon College.
As a younger man he had worked for many years on
the former County Road family farm. He
also fished for lobster locally and for many years harvested clams.
He is survived by his companion Barbara Dunn of
Gloucester; former wife Wendy MacGown of Beverly; two daughters, Andrea
and Ashley MacGown both of Beverly; a sister, Olga Mastrangelo of Ipswich
and several nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late Sonya
Gubicza formerly of Ipswich.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the
Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in his
