Jessie F. (Jenkins) Horsman

Jessie F. (Jenkins) Horsman, 91, of Grove Street, Essex, wife of the late Guy Horsman, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the Beverly Hospital following her brief illness.

Born in Essex July 20, 1923, daughter of the late Elias and Evelyn (Thompson) Jenkins, she was raised in Essex and was a 1940 graduate of the former Essex High School . Following graduation she trained as a secretary at the former Lynn Burdett College. For many years she was employed  as a secretary at the former Haywood Hosiery Mill in Ipswich and following  itís closure she went to work as a secretary at the First National Bank of Ipswich from which she retired.

For more than thirty years she was the organist at the First Universalist Church in Essex and for many of these years performed as the organist for the John T. Heard Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla A. Horsman and her husband Neal Dagle, and Jeanne E. Lane both of Essex; two grandchildren, Timothy R. Lane, Jr. and his partner Michele Barkowski, and Torrey R. Lane;  a great grandson, Drew R. Lane, who was her pride and joy; a sister-in-law, Barbara Jenkins of Rhode Island; several nieces and nephews including her very special niece, Sharon Jenkins. She was the sister of the late Preston Jenkins formerly of Essex and Donald Jenkins formerly of Rhode Island.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the First Universalist Church in Essex, P.O. Box 156, Essex, MA 01929.
