Jennie V. (Chmura) Rygielski


Jennie V. (Chmura) Rygielski, 90 longtime resident of Topsfield Road, died Saturday, June 1, 2019 in her home following her long illness. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Rygielski.
Born in Beverly on December 17, 1928, daughter of the late John and Fannie (Slezak) Chmura, she was raised in Ipswich, a 1947 graduate of Ipswich High School.
 Married in the former Sacred Heart Church, the Rygielskis soon moved to the house they built on Topsfield Road where she raised her family and lived until her passing.
Jennie babysat her grandchildren and their friends for many years. They enjoyed swimming, dirt bike riding and climbing trees all the while she was always looking for different ways to entertain these children by buying them all sorts of board games and keeping them busy playing badminton and croquet. She also loved shopping and traveling to the mountains for the fall foliage. She was always busy and always had ideas of fun things to do. In elder years she enjoyed the weekly dinners at the Bluebell and watching love stories.
Jennie was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart where she was very active in church activities and for many years served as the rectory housekeeper.She was also an active member of the Polish League of American Veterans Post #92 Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Desmond and her husband John III of Ipswich, Gail Hatcher of AZ, Lisa J. McParland and her husband Daniel R. of Ipswich; seven grandchildren, John IV, Christopher and Alicia Desmond all of Ipswich, Robert and Jonathan McParland both of Ipswich, Tyler Hatcher of CT and Kelsey Hatcher of FL. She was the mother of the late Walter S. Rygielski, Jr.  and sister of the Late Theodore Chmura, Loretta Chmura, all of Ipswich and the late Stella Martel formerly of Hamilton.
Her funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, June 6 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by interment in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially invited. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 5 to 8 pm.
