James Mulley Jr

James Mulley Jr., 90, loving husband of Gloria G. (Stanley) Mulley of Coles Way, Atkinson, NH died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on April 29, 1928, in Revere, he was the son of the late James and Pearl (King) Mulley.  Jim graduated from Everett High School and served as a radio operator in the US Navy during the years immediately following World War II.  He subsequently began a 43-year career at General Electric, where he held positions in electronics design and military contract negotiations before retiring in 1991.  During this time, he also earned an Associate's degree in electronics from Wentworth Institute of Technology and completed intensive training in the skills of negotiation. 

Jim and Gloria were married in 1950.  After welcoming their first two children (Jim and Debby) and living a few years in Saugus, Jim was transferred to another General Electric location in Erie, PA, where their remaining two children (Rich and Scott) were born. He was transferred back to Massachusetts in 1966 where the family resided in Ipswich until 1998, when Jim and Gloria moved to Atkinson, NH.  After Jim's retirement, the couple also spent several months per year entertaining family and friends at their winter home in Fort Myers, FL.In his spare time, he enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, and building and/or fixing just about anything.  A dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, Jim was active in several churches during his lifetime.

In addition to his wife Gloria of sixty-eight years he is survived by a daughter, Dr. Debra A. Mulley of Boston; three sons, James G. Mulley and his wife Maryellen of Haverhill, Richard A. Mulley and his wife Susan of Hamilton, and K. Scott Mulley and his wife Helen of Chester, NH; seven grandchildren, Daniel J., Tyler G., Elizabeth S., Rebecca A., Gavin S., and Gordon A. Mulley, Megan DeFelice and a great grandson, Watson I. Mulley. He is also survived by a brother, Ronald G. Mulley of Merrimack, NH, a sister, Lois Derochemont of Ipswich and many nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late William A. Mulley formerly of Ipswich and Dorothy Howell formerly of Nashua, NH.

His funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, July 20 at First Presbyterian Church Northshore, 179 County Road, Ipswich followed by interment with Military Honors in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Thursday 5 to 8 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High StreetIpswich.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to The Navigators, in support of Daniel Mulley (grandson of the deceased), at www.navstaff.org/mulley, or to the Salvation Army at give.salvationarmyusa.org
