James M. Coan,
64, of Northridge Road, Ipswich, husband of Linda Coan, died
April 6, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family, following
a battle with multiple myeloma.
Born in Lynn,
December 3, 1949 he was the son of late
Ralph and Anna
(Carlin) Coan of Lynn. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from
Hamilton-Wenham High School in 1967. He served his country in
the U S Marine Corps, spending two tours of duty in Viet Nam.
He went on to attend and graduate from Boston College earning a
bachelorís degree in Business Administration. James started his
career with the U S Postal Service as a letter carrier in Lynn,
later becoming a Facility Services Supervisor working throughout
the Middlesex-Essex District. Following his retirement from the
Postal Service, Jim went on to become the owner-operator of L &
L Laundromat in Melrose and the Laundry Agency in Gloucester.
He had many interests, happiest when spending time with friends
and family. He spent many devoted hours with his grandson Kai.
In addition to
his wife Linda of thirty-three years he leaves his daughter
Lisa Abitbol and her husband Christian Pierce of Watertown and
his much adored grandson Kai, beloved and his favorite playmate.

Thursday, April 10,
graveside in Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed .Visiting hours will be
Wednesday 5 to 7 pm in
the Whittier-Porter Funeral home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
International Multiple Myeloma Foundation,
