Isobel A. (Nixon) Coulombe
Isobel A. (Nixon) Coulombe, 93, of Meadowview Lane,
Ipswich, died Sunday, March 1, 2020 in her home following her brief
illness. She was the wife of the late Armand J. Coulombe who died in 1977.
Born in Lynn on June 22, 1926, daughter of the late
Andrew M. and Elizabeth (Breakie) Nixon, she was raised in Swampscott
where she graduated from public schools. Following their marriage, the
Coulombes soon made their home in Rowley for a few years until their move
to East Street, Ipswich where they raised their family. She and her sister
Moira have lived on Meadowview Lane since 1990.
For several years Isobel worked at the Ipswich
Water Department, then was employed as the Assistant Ipswich Town Clerk
and most recently and until her retirement as Ipswich Town Clerk. In
retirement she did historical resident research for the people of Ipswich.
Isobel was a longtime member of the Ascension
Memorial Church where she served as the church secretary. She was also a
member of the John T. Heard Order of the Eastern Star and worked at the
Ipswich Information Booth and at the polls on election day.
She will be remembered by her children as the “best
Mom in the world.”
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah E. Coulombe of
Ipswich; two sons, Bruce D. Coulombe and his wife Diane of Watkins Glenn,
NY, Adam N. Coulombe and his wife Rosemarie of Salisbury; four
grandchildren, Andrew C. Coulombe of Ipswich, John H., James and Caroline
Coulombe all of NY and a sister, Moira McLaughlin of Ipswich. She was the
sister of the late James Nixon formerly of CA.
Her funeral service will be held 11 am Monday,
March 9 in the Ascension Memorial Church, 31 County Street, Ipswich.
