Henry L. Wright

Henry L. Wright, 73, of Mary’s Way, Ipswich and husband of Linda (O’Neill/Farina) Wright, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the Beverly Hospital following his brief illness.

Born in Lowell, son of the late Donald L. and Mary (Minichello) Wright, he was raised in Ipswich, a 1959 graduate of Ipswich High School. With scholarships he continued his education at Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University where he received his B.S. in engineering and Tufts University where he received his Masters in engineering. For twenty-five years he was employed as a mechanical engineer at United Shoe and Machine in Beverly and more recently at Gillette Company in South Boston, retiring in 2007.

Henry was an avid fisherman of every type. He also enjoyed golfing and auto racing, having  served many years with the pit crew of racing buddy Frank Grimaldi. He’ll be remembered and missed by family and friends as the “go to guy” for his ability to fix “anything.”

He was a longtime member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Club.

In addition to his wife Linda of forty-seven years he is survived by a son, Nathan H. Wright and his wife Rebecca of Newton, a daughter, Shelby Weaver and her husband Jason of Ipswich, four grandchildren, Bryn and Owen Weaver both of Ipswich, and Henry and Finn Wright both of Newton, a brother, Michael Wright of Ipswich, and three sisters, Dina Allen of Danvers, Blanche Wright of Ipswich, and Jean Sims of Florida.

Visiting hours will be Friday 4 to 7 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by a closing service at 7 pm. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.

His interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to Wentworth College of Engineering and Technology. http://www.wit.edu/
