Henry L. Wright, 73, of Mary’s Way, Ipswich and husband of Linda
(O’Neill/Farina) Wright, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the
Beverly Hospital following his brief illness.
Born in Lowell, son of the late Donald L. and Mary (Minichello)
Wright, he was raised in Ipswich, a 1959 graduate of Ipswich
High School. With scholarships he continued his education at
Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University where he
received his B.S. in engineering and Tufts University where he
received his Masters in engineering. For twenty-five years he
was employed as a mechanical engineer at United Shoe and Machine
in Beverly and more recently at Gillette Company in South
Boston, retiring in 2007.
Henry was an avid fisherman of every type. He also enjoyed
golfing and auto racing, having served many years with the pit
crew of racing buddy Frank Grimaldi. He’ll be remembered and
missed by family and friends as the “go to guy” for his ability
to fix “anything.”
He was a longtime member of the Ipswich Fish and Game Club.
In addition to his wife Linda of forty-seven years he is
survived by a son, Nathan H. Wright and his wife Rebecca of
Newton, a daughter, Shelby Weaver and her husband Jason of
Ipswich, four grandchildren, Bryn and Owen Weaver both of
Ipswich, and Henry and Finn Wright both of Newton, a brother,
Michael Wright of Ipswich, and three sisters, Dina Allen of
Danvers, Blanche Wright of Ipswich, and Jean Sims of Florida.
Visiting hours will be Friday 4 to 7 pm in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich followed by a closing
service at 7 pm. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
His interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial
