Helena M. Stevens

Helena M. (Lipfert) Stevens, 70, wife of Philip Stevens, Jr of Hamilton, died Tuesday January 19, 2016 in the Beverly hospital following her brief illness.

Born on January 7, 1946 in Gloucester, she was the daughter of Maxwell and Edith (Doucette) Lipfert. She was raised in Beverly and Salem, and was a graduate of Beverly High School. Following their marriage, the Stevensí resided in Ipswich before moving to Hamilton. Employed at various assembly jobs throughout her career, she also worked the Hamilton polls at elections during the year.

Helena was an avid quilter. She and her friends would go to Lancaster, PA and Augusta, ME for their annual quilting shows. She loved to party and enjoyed her wine. She was known by many as "Auntie". Her real love was the house in Maine where she spent her summers.

She thought of her niece and nephews Eva, Tom and Dan as her own children.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her brother, Edward Mallon and his husband, Dan O'Leary of Quincy, as well as Ed's former wife, Debra Mallon; her nieces Eva Oliveira and her husband, Daniel and Mary Ann Foley and her husband Frank, her nephews Thomas Mallon and his wife Laurie, Daniel Mallon and his wife, Jessica, and Raymond Lipfert and his wife Laura, and many cherished great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by step-sisters Connie Accomando of Beverly, Faye Schirm of CA and Joan Wogan of Manchester.

She was the sister of the late Raymond Lipfert, formerly of Lawrence and Frank Lipfert, formerly of Salem, the aunt of the late Denise Kwok, and the step-sister of the late Elizabeth Perkins, formerly of Danvers.

Her funeral service will be held  Friday, January 22,  11 am in the First Baptist Church, 221 Cabot Street, Beverly. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are Thursday  4 to 7 pm in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name  may be made to the Hamilton Fire Dept. Relief Association, 265 Bay Road, South Hamilton, MA 01982 or the Hamilton Foundation, c/o Town Hall, P.O. Box 429,  Hamilton, MA 01936.
