Helen I. (Ross)
Hulbert, 80, wife of the late George A. Hulbert, died Tuesday
August 17, 2010 in her son’s Town Farm Road, Ipswich home
following her long illness.
Born in Beverly
December 13, 1929, daughter of the late Herbert and Bessie
(Foss) Ross, she was raised in Hamilton where she attended
public schools. Married 1954 in the Ascension Memorial Church,
the Hulberts made their home and raised their family on Town
Farm Road. Following her husband’s retirement in 1986, the
Hulberts moved to Punta Gorda, FL where they lived until his
death in 2008. She returned to Ipswich making her home at Agawam
Village.
Mrs. Hulbert was
an avid member and volunteer at the Ipswich Council on Aging.
She also volunteered at Ipswich Museum, Agawam Village Farmers
Market, and the Ipswich Food Pantry. Throughout the years she
enjoyed boating with her family and more recently her travels
with friends at the Council on Aging.
She was a
longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Ipswich.
She is survived
by her son George A. “Chuck” Hulbert and his wife Marlene of
Ipswich; a daughter Sally Arledge and her husband Doug of Cape
Coral, FL; four grandchildren, Wesley Pierce of Salem and
Samantha, Cody and Jaclyn Hulbert all of Ipswich; a sister
Jenney Cronin of S. Hamilton and many nephews and nieces. She
was the mother of the late Susan Hulbert of Ipswich and sister
of the late Howard Ross of CA, Bessie Wood of NH and Elizabeth
Atherley and Bertha Smith both of Ipswich.
Her funeral
service will be held graveside Tuesday August 24 at 11 am in
Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Town Farm Rd, Ipswich. Family and
friends are respectfully welcomed. Arrangements are under the
direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102,
Danvers, MA 01923.
