Gloria M. (Moore)
Petersen, 87, of Ipswich and longtime of Sudbury, died Thursday,
September 22, 2016 in the Blueberry Healthcare Center, Beverly,
following her long illness. She was the wife of fifty-three years to
the late Gordon C. Petersen.
Born in Framingham
September 23, 1928, daughter of the late George A. and Georgia M.
(Hogan) Petersen, she was raised in Sudbury and was a 1946 graduate
of Sudbury High School. Gloria went on to attend the Katherine Gibbs
School in Boston where she trained as a medical secretary. The
Petersens were married in 1951 with her husband leaving the
following day with the Army to Germany to serve his enlistment in
the Korean Conflict.
Upon on discharge
the Petersens made their home and raised their family in Sudbury. In
addition to raising her family she had also been employed for many
of years as a medical secretary at several private practices. In
2000 the Petersons relocated to Ipswich, and enjoyed living at their
daughter’s Back Bay Farm.
She was a longtime
member of the Sudbury United Methodist Church. Gloria will be

son, Gordon C. Petersen and his wife Sandra of CT; a daughter, Robin
Petersen and her husband Peter Townsend of Ipswich; four
grandchildren, Marcy Petersen, Heather Petersen BeVier and her
husband Blake all of CT, Michael Townsend of Ipswich, and Samuel
Townsend of NH; two great grandchildren, Blake and Madeline BeVier;
two brothers, Richard A. Moore of ME and George A. Moore, Jr. of
Groton and many nephews and nieces. She was the mother of the late
Kyle Petersen, formerly of Ipswich.
