Gerardus Visser

Gerardus “Jerry” Visser, 86, husband of Virginia (Stewart) Visser of
Arrowhead Trail, Ipswich, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 in the Addison
Gilbert Hospital, Gloucester following his long illness.
Born in Heiloo, Netherlands November 12, 1927 he was the son of the
late Dirk and Helena (van Steeg) Visser. He was a graduate of the
public schools in the Netherlands and coming to the USA in 1952 to
join his brother he went on to attend the Salem Commercial School
and Northeastern University. Mr. Visser was employed as an
accountant working for the AC Spark Plug Div. of General Motors,
Cinter Bond of Gloucester and Parker-Hannifin Co. of Gray, ME from
which he retired in 1984. In retirement he owned and operated the
Visser Bulb Co. in Ipswich.
In addition to his wife of sixty years he is survived by a son,
Glenn S. Visser and his wife Carol of Montville, ME; a daughter,
Gayle C. Noel and her husband Daniel of Clifton Park, NY and many
nephews and nieces including Dirk Visser and wife Mary Sue of NY,
Leo Visser and close nephew Jaap Meijer both of the Netherlands,
Elizabeth Shoreman of Ipswich, Linda Taylor and her husband Dr.
David of NY and Helena Meijer of the Netherlands.
He was the brother of the late Dirk Visser formerly of Ipswich and
John, Wietse and Elisabeth Visser all formerly of the Netherlands.
His funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, July 28 graveside in
the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are
respectfully welcomed.
