George R. “Pat” Lawler
George R. “Pat” Lawler, Jr, 89, of Larch Row,
Wenham, husband of the late Sylvia C. (Babcock) Lawler, died Sunday, June
27, 2021 in the Beverly Hospital following his sudden illness.
Born in Salem on June 26, 1932 he was one of the
two children of the late George R. and Marcella (Robson) Lawler. George
was raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Public Schools. Married in
1959 the Lawlers made their home and started their family in Salem where
they lived for several years, moving on to Beverly for the next forty
years then residing in Wenham for the past fifteen years.
George will be fondly remembered by his many
friends who knew him as “Mr. Fixit” at Dawsons Hardware in Beverly where
he was employed for over thirty years. He enjoyed his many hours of
tinkering and dressing the many sports cars he had owned over the years,
following the New England Patriots and watching both roller derby and Big
George is survived by his two sons, George R.
Lawler, III and his wife Alison of Las Vegas, NV, and Daniel R. Lawler of
Ipswich, two daughters, Joy E. Randall and her husband Donald on TN and
Barbara M. Logan of Haverhill, eleven grandchildren, five great
grandchildren, and a brother, James Lawler of FL.
A visitation will be held Friday July 2 from 11 am
to 1 pm, preceding a funeral service at 1 pm in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially
welcomed. Interment will follow in the Iron Rail Cemetery in Wenham.
