George L. Fowler

George L.
Fowler, 75, husband of Mabel I. (Bryer) Fowler and a long time resident
of Jeffrey’s Neck Road, Ipswich, passed away on May 2, 2011 in the Beth
Israel Medical Center, Boston following an extended illness.
Born in
Ipswich on November 6, 1935, son of the late Frank and Hazel (Gilmore)
Fowler, he was raised and attended school in both Ipswich and coastal
Maine .
George was a
self-employed clammer, lobsterman, fisherman and carpenter. He was an
avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time with friends at
his camp in Maine.
In addition
to his loving wife Mabel of fifty-five years he is survived by a
daughter, Brenda Barrows and her husband David of Tampa, FL; a
granddaughter Lisa Barrows also of Tampa; three brothers, Robert of Ft.
Myers, FL, William of Jefferson, ME and Kenneth of Waldoboro, ME and
many nephews and nieces.
He was
predeceased by a son Freddy Fowler formerly of Ipswich and two brothers
and seven sisters.
His funeral
service will be held at noon, Saturday, May 7, in the Whittier-Porter
Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich, following an hour of visitation
from 11 am to noon for family and friends.
