George A. Foster, Jr
George A. Foster, Jr, known to friends as “Scorpio” or “Scorp”, passed
away on September 2, 2018, at the age of sixty-five years.
A native of Ipswich, George attended the University of Maine, graduating
with a degree in history. He spent most of his life working in real estate
and as a whitewater rafting guide. He was recognized by the State of Maine
Senate and House for his nearly twenty years of guiding service, and was
acknowledged as one of the first group of individuals who became
whitewater guides. George also had a strong affinity for Harley Davidson
and WWII history.
Among his friends he was known as the life of the party, a story-teller
who could captivate an audience for hours. With his deep voice and
bellowing cackle, it was always known when George was in the room. There
will be a void now that he is gone. However, he would not want tears shed
in his name, but to carry on with festive activities in his remembrance.
He is survived by his son, Ian Foster, and his daughter, Heather Foster
both of San Diego, two brothers, Glenn Foster of Newbury and Robert C.
Foster and his wife Laura of FL, and a sister, Holly Foster of Ipswich.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours 4 to 7
pm Thursday, September 20 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High
- E-mail a
