George F. Delaney, Jr

George F. Delaney, Jr. 80, formerly of Choate Lane, Ipswich, and husband of late Patricia Ann (Connolly) Delaney, died peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, surrounded by his children, following a long illness.

Born in Beverly on September 8, 1938, son of the late George F. Delaney and Helen E. (Fuller) Santos, he was raised in Hamilton by his grandparents and guardians, Edith and Amos Fuller. Married in 1964, the Delaney’s soon made their home and raised their family on Moulton Street in Hamilton. George dedicated his entire working life of sixty years to the seafood business. He was the founder and owner of Ipswich Maritime Products.

He and his wife of Pat of fifty-two years enjoyed many of these years golfing at the Old Newbury and Ipswich Country Club.  He loved to compete in all kinds of sports, collecting classic automobiles, building stone walls, and watching his grandchildren compete in their sports.   

He is survived by a son, George A. Delaney and his wife Kara of Boxford; a daughter, Jennifer T. Jedraszek and her husband Ronald of Beverly; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Patricia “Annie” and Timothy Towler, and Kathryn, Madeline and Jackson Delaney and step grandson, Michael Jedraszek. He was the father the late infant Colleen Delaney and brother of the late Barbara Fanning formerly of Beverly.

His funeral will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, 9 am from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street., Ipswich followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 50 Union St., Hamilton.
Interment will be in the Hamilton Cemetery.
Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. Visiting hours are on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Kaplan Family House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923 and or St. Johns Preparatory school, 72 Spring St., Danvers MA 01923.
